  4. You're rich. . .maybe. Geologists have just located one of the largest oil
  5. deposits in North America, on your land! But you have to get it out of the
  6. ground before you can spend it.
  7.  
  8. The other oil barons are jealous, and they would do anything to sabotage your
  9. operation. They have planted oozies and land mines in your oil fields to wreck
  10. your drilling equipment. Don't let them cheat you out of your millions!

  13. LOADING INSTRUCTIONS
  14.  
  15. 1. Make sure ColecoVision unit is off before
  16.    inserting or removing cartridge.
  17.  
  18. 2. Insert cartridge into the slot, with the label
  19.    facing you. Be certain it is locked into place.
  20.  
  21. 3. Turn on the power to the television and ColecoVision unit.
  22.  
  23. 4. After the banner (title) page appears on the screen, your
  24.    game options will appear. Choose 1 or 2 players and playing
  25.    speed: Regular, Unleaded or Premium.

  42. Use joystick to drill any direction.
  43. Press fire button to retract drill bit.

  45. You might have some trouble at first,
  46. rounding all those sharp corners; but
  47. keep practicing with your joystick, and
  48. you'll be a first class oil driller in no time at all.

  51. HOW TO PLAY OIL'S WELL
  52.  
  53. Your gusher came in, but that hasn't made you a millionaire. Not yet,
  54. anyway. The competition is giving you trouble.
  55.  
  56. Every time you start drilling, an oozie attacks your pipe and eats right
  57. through it. Or your drill bit sets off an underground land mine that someone
  58. has planted in your oil fields. If you can't avoid these hazards you may have
  59. to shut down!
  60.  
  61. As you gather in all those precious oil pellets, watch for extra-rich deposits
  62. of high grade oil. Lap up that liquid gold, like gleaming goblets of golden
  63. nectar.
  64.  
  65. In the deepest, darkest caverns below you will find an occasional deposit of
  66. petromin. While this rare mineral is flowing up your pipe it creates a force
  67. field which slows down those oozies, giving you a chance to mine some of those
  68. deeply buried oil pellets. Be careful, though--the land mines are not affected
  69. by petromins.

  71. As you mine each of your eight oil fields, construction workers are busy
  72. overhead building a refinery. Clear out all the fields and your refinery will
  73. be finished. You can sell your refined oil, and live on Easy Street for the
  74. rest of your life!

  76. What are you waiting for? Your first fortune is only minutes away!

  79. THE PLAYERS

  83. Drill Bit    You get 3 to start with, and another for
  84.              every 10,000 points. Each has a life span of
  85.              990 ticks.
  86.  
  87. Land Mines   You drill bit will detonate this, but it won't
  88.              hurt your pipe.
  89.  
  90. Oil Pellets  Gobble up every one of these to advance to        10
  91.              the next field.
  92.  
  93. Petromins    Special oil nuggets that slow down the oozies.
  94.  
  95. Oozies       These will destroy your pipe, but your drill    20-170
  96.              bit will devour them (points increase as you
  97.              dig deeper).
  98.  
  99. Goblets      Your drill bit can mine these super-rich         1000
  100.              deposits; they pass harmlessly through
  101.              your pipe.
